If your role involves thinking through for decision making, problem solving and a leadership position where Thinking is your main Action, this course is for you. It will benefit you irrespective of the stage of leadership you are in since thinking through issues is the core expectation from all of us across our professional lives.
What will you learn through this course?
Thinking is perhaps the most natural to human race. It is a directional force among the leadership resources. This course will help you understand the human thinking process. You will understand your thinking orientation – the characteristic or natural way of thinking you are disposed towards from the three strands of thinking viz Analytical Thinking, Conceptual Thinking and Intuition. This course will also help you understand all the three types of thinking, their use, context in which each will be relevant and the benefits of going beyond your natural suite and practising the other.
Approach to the Course
Leadership is about dealing with ambiguity, complexity and uncertainty. Thinking helps you move away from being stuck in the emotional response state to rational response state. It is a leadership resource that is directional from where you are to where you want to go. Your exercise of leadership will be effective will be effective if you apply the thinking that befits the situation.
The course will first help you become aware of your thinking orientation. (Orientations are characteristics or traits.) Then through the conceptual webcasts of the course, you will understand the elements Analytical Thinking, Conceptual Thinking and Intuition that we have built using the works of scholars in the area of Thinking like Jean Piaget.
You will learn how different situations and different roles entail deployment of a certain type or combination thinking types. As a leader it will also be required for us to understand how to identify the orientation of thinking of the team members and resource ourselves with a combination that is useful across contexts.
The course will cement your learning through leadership interviews and articles curated by us for you by the Leadership Centre.
How is the learning structured?
This course is designed to help you uncover the dimensions mentioned above by breaking it down to learning units that are bite size and easy to consume. It is structured to help you understand the content, learn its application and reflect on your behaviour relating to it. It offers a structure to skills practice to continue beyond the course as well.
The content is structured for you to absorb, internalise, reflect, be self-aware and practice building skill in that unit of content before proceeding to the next. We recommend you learn by spending time observing, reflecting and drawing deeper insights from your environment and watching others relating to the content as well. As you progress reflect and identify the areas you want to develop and practice skills beyond the course.
Deep involvement in each unit of content before moving to the next will heighten your learning experience of the program.
