Developing and Harnessing Multiple Perspectives
You will find this course useful if you are responsible to take decisions factoring in diverse functions and interests or called upon in your career to work with multi-functional and multi-interest groups.
What will you learn through this course?
This course will help you understand the need to go beyond one’s own perspectives in exercise of leadership. You will learn the personal resources you need (characteristics or traits, we refer to them as leadership orientations) to enable you to enrich your perspective leading to high quality results.
Approach to the Course
While Thinking is natural to human resources that help us process information and gain clarity in dealing with the world, perspective is the personal “meaning making’ process. This course approaches it from the point of view that our perspectives can help us make meaning yet will remain incomplete if we do not include other’s perspective. It will start with a webcast to understand the Human Thinking Process.
The course dwells on the need to co-hold multiple perspectives, seed diverse perspectives in making the meaning richer and decisions better. It offers Framing as a tool to invite diverse perspective.
You will be effective in the exercise of leadership based on the leadership resources you possess and your ability to apply those resources to suit the situation. We refer to these leadership resources as Leadership Orientations. (Orientations are characteristics or traits.) In this course you will learn that Perspective is another leadership resource.
You will understand the approach of offering, drawing and managing of perspectives and applying it to manage risks better, make better decisions and expand your own perspective.
This course will also offer practise opportunities for Framing, understanding the perspectives of leaders. Needless to add, our approach to this course is also that you will become better and better when you use every opportunity at the work place to apply what you learnt.
How is the learning structured?
This course is designed to help you uncover the dimensions mentioned above by breaking it down to learning units that are bite size and easy to consume. It is structured to help you understand the content, learn its application and reflect on your behaviour relating to it. It offers a structure to skills practice to continue beyond the course as well.
The content is structured for you to absorb, internalise, reflect, be self-aware and practice building skill in that unit of content before proceeding to the next. We recommend you learn by spending time observing, reflecting and drawing deeper insights from your environment and watching others relating to the content as well. As you progress reflect and identify the areas you want to develop and practice skills beyond the course.
Deep involvement in each unit of content before moving to the next will heighten your learning experience of the program.
